Go And Join Naxals, We Will Shoot You: Union Minister Hansraj Ahir Tells Doctors Absent From Event

MUMBAI: Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ahir was angry as the doctors were on leave when he was inaugurating a medicine counter at a hospital in Maharashtra.

Minister of Home State Hansraj Ahir on Monday asked the doctors of Maharashtra to join the Naxal ranks. Ahir who visited Chandrapur district to inaugurate a local hospital was met with hostility from the doctors.

Hansraj Ahir was speaking at the launch of a 24×7 store for generic medicines at a government-run hospital in eastern Maharashtra’s Chandrapur, which he represents in parliament.

“The mayor came, the deputy mayor came but what stopped the doctors from coming for the event?” demanded the minister, noting that doctors were missing.

The doctors of the state had called a strike in support of their brethren in the Rajasthan who are demanding a revision in their salaries.

Chandrapur is one of the four districts in Maharashtra which have been identified by the central government as affected by Left-Wing Extremism.

Earlier, Several doctors in Rajasthan were arrested after the state government invoked the Rajasthan Essential Services Maintenance Act (RESMA) for three months after the All Rajasthan In-Service Doctors’ Association warned of indefinite strike in support of their demands.
